Martin Garrix has been one of my biggest inspiration and it was pretty fun to find out the DAW, Gear, and plugins he uses. Especially the younger generation started to produce after finding out that an young Dutch DJ has made it big.

Why I made a list of plugins used by Martin Garrix?

well, I’m a fan of Garrix ever since he released his track “Animals”. I’ve been watching his videos and also tried to recreate his tracks etc. He is somebody who you can learn a lot from.

He certainly doesn’t work with any systematic order but the way he uses his skills with the plugins always surprises me. I used to look for plugins he used to use and all the samples he used and was really happy. Now I would like to show you just 10 of what I found. More for later.

1)Sylenth 1 by Lennar Digital

Sylenth 1

Sylenth 1, not just Martin Garrix but may well-known guys use it too. When he was demonstrating how he created “Animals” on a youtube video. It was seen that he had used Sylenth 1.

2)Fruity Fast LP

Fruity Fast LP

In an interview with future music, It was seen that Martin was using Fruity Fast LP which is a stock plugin in FL Studio. Fruity Fast LP has now integrated into each envelope settings.

3)Image Line’s Gross Beat

 

FL STUDIO Gross Beat

Gross Beat is such a powerful plugin. Martin Garrix uses “Gross Beat” for sidechaining instead of using a compressor like the norms. Gross Beat is used by many artists like Draft Punk etc.




4)Massive – Native Instruments

 

Massive Native Instruments

Massive is a synth widely used by many music producers that have a wide variety of sounds. Also, comes with controllers that can be manipulated to get a better sound. Martin said He had bought it on a tweet.

5)CamelPhat

Camel Phat, a plugin that Martin Garrix talks about quite a lot. He also added that he had used this plugin on the intro of “Animals”.

 

6)ReFX Nexus

 

A beautiful plugin that is always on my top list. I think this is an obvious one that we all know Martin uses this. Fortunately, he posted a picture on Instagram of him buying this software.

7)Synthmaster KV331 Audio

Synthmaster KV331 Audio

A super-powerful all-rounder plugin. This synth is one of Martin Garrix’s favorite ones and also says that he has used it on his singles.

8)iZotope Ozone 5

Ozone 5

A Mastering plugin that Martin Garrix uses for his tracks. He had mentioned in an interview that he uses this plugin to master the tracks and it would bring life to it. This mastering plugin is amazing if you are trying to do your own mastering.

There are a lot of tutorials online for this as well.

9)CMT BitCrusher

On the interview with future music where he explains about his track “Animals”, you can see that he uses this plugin.

10) Fruity Reverb 2





On multiple videos including the interview with future music he constantly uses this plugin for the reverb effect. Just like any other EDM artist Martin Garrix likes to wet the sounds to create his signature effects.

Fruity Reverb is an amazing reverb plugin used by Martin Garrix on almost all his tracks.

11) Dada Life – Endless Smile

Endless Smile

Dada Life’s Endless Smile is used by Diplo, Martin Garrix, Zedd, Tritonal, Axwell, Deniz Koyu, Hardwell and many other artists. This plugin helps to create tension on the buildup section before a “Drop“.

In the above video, around 40:29 seconds Martin Garrix can be seen using the Endless Smile plugin.

12) Spire Synthesizer Plugin

Another Synth in Martin Garrix’s toolkit is the Spire Synth which has amazing sounds. It contains perfect synth and basses with really flexible controls. In an Instagram Q & A, He mentioned one of his favorite plugins is the Spire Synth.

Soundtoys Little Alterboy

Soundtoys Little Alterboy is a dramatic vocal alteration plugin. You can change the pitch, gender and tune it to a robotic sound.

14) Spectrasonics Omnisphere 2

Spectrasonics Omnisphere

Omnisphere is a really massive Synth plugin that contains huge amounts of sounds and a large number of sound settings to create, manipulate and change your sounds to your liking and style.

Almost every famous producer out there has Omnisphere.

15) Fruity Limiter

Fruity Limiter

This powerful limiter plugin comes with FL Studio and He uses these for all the limiting effects. If you are an FL Studio user then you would already know how powerful this is when it comes to limiting.

16) TapeStop Plugin

Tape Stop

Martin Garrix used this plugin on the song Animals for the clock sound. TapeStop PLugin can be used as a great effect and it’s all up to your creativity. You can watch the below video to see where he explains the usage of this plugin.

17) Valhalla Room

Valhalla Room

Valhalla Room is an amazing reverb plugin even with the default presets it sounds wonderful. You can also play around with the settings and you will be amazed by the different reverb sound from this plugin. Martin Garrix posted on his Instagram when he was doing a Q & A.
